Irrigation System Upgrade

Our farm is in dire need of an improved irrigation system. The present pipes carrying water to our farm are to small and will not be able to supply the water that is needed by the MOH farm. It is recommended that the current 2″ pipes be changed to 3″ and add a separate pipe for our corn fields. MOH has formed an “irrigation System Team” composed of several of the MOH Farm workers and Prom Amoguis to implement this upgrade over the school holiday break. We have done “costing” of the materials – mainly pipes. The amount is about 150,000 PHP which is about $3,061 US dollars.

We simply can no longer do repairs on the existing system. We have to redo the system and do it properly to continue the success of the farm. It is critical to have this in place before the “dry season” comes.

The stories of our lives are written moment by moment. In how we’ve loved, in the day to day things that we’ve shared, and in the many ways we’ve touched others hearts. We have lost someone very special. Someone who will always be remembered as a wonderful influence in this world. I say world, because Bruce Littrell was a blessing to so many – especially our children in the Philippines that Mission of Hope supports.

With a natural sense of caring and with his kind and helpful ways, Bruce was instrumental in helping us file and achieve our non-profit status. As previous CFO and Board member for Mission of Hope, he helped grow our budget three-fold to assist literally hundreds of poor indigent students whose dream was to just finish school and get their degree. His love for others was truly reflected in his passion to help grow Mission of Hope so that no child ever went to bed hungry at night. Or that no child had to make a choice to eat that day or buy a bar of soap or a pencil for school. Not only did he touch their lives, but he exemplified our mission of loving others and serving the world!

We share in the families sorrow of losing such a special man. He will forever be on the hearts of the hundreds of students that have successful graduated from school in the Philippines.   He will personally be missed by me as a mentor and dear friend.

GRANT WRITER POSITION OPEN FOR MISSION OF HOPE

Mission of Hope – Philippines is a rapidly growing non-profit 501(c)3 charity that is focused on helping feed young people in dire need of food. In October 2015, we ventured out to start SNAP: Student Nutritional Assistance program by leasing 5 hectors of land and starting our own farm that would provide fresh fruits and vegetables to students attending school on a regular basis. Our goal was to be a part of the immediate need and practical solution to the nutritional needs of these students who are currently providing for themselves.
OVERVIEW 
We are looking for an experienced grant/proposal writer that can help identify funding opportunities that can help us grow our farm even more. We are currently at a cross road where we can not grow without additional funding. You will play a primary role for grant and proposal management for Mission of Hope, working very independently but leveraging internal experts to draft your response. We are looking for someone exceptionally organized that loves writing and wants to have an impact for helping others through a non-profit company. We are a growing company and are looking for a Grant & Proposal Writer that can grow with us.
RESPONSIBILITIES 
• Research opportunities for grants applicable to helping feed students attending school

  • Research opportunities for awards and recognition for the work that Mission of Hope does
    • Establish and maintain a grant schedule, keeping on top of the various timelines
    • Collect information, draft grant applications, persuasively communicating our mission and offerings to potential funders
    • Develop and maintain a proposal/grant kit of standard language & documents to make applying for grants and proposals easier

HOURS AND Salary

  • This position is a volunteer position. All the Mission of Hope Directors and Officers are volunteers and receive no compensation for their time and efforts.
  • As our organization grows financially, (with the help of your grants) compensation will and can be immediately considered for your efforts.

CFO Position Needed for Mission of Hope

Mission of Hope Has an Opening for a CFO:

A nonprofit’s chief financial officer is one of the most important people within the organization. They can make a significant difference in the organization’s ability to accomplish its mission and continuing to provide services and thrive in the future. As organizations’ finances come increasingly under public scrutiny, a good CFO is needed to handle red tape, fast growth and complex issues that might drag down a well-meaning nonprofit

Qualifications
Nonprofit CFOs can find their jobs rewarding and fulfilling, especially if they are working for a cause that they believe in. Mission of Hope is looking for a volunteer that is knowledgeable about the intricate ins and outs of nonprofit finance rules. They must understand how to deal with resource constraints and handle problems that arise as we work with the banks in the Philippines.  They should have the personality that works in a nonprofit culture — that success isn’t just measured financially, but is also in serving the organization’s mission. Our Nonprofit CFO must also be a team player and people-oriented.

Salary
All the Mission of Hope Directors and Officers are volunteers and receive no compensation for their time and efforts. As our organization grows financially, compensation will and can be considered.

We are 18 days away from our trip to the Philippines and are $2,493 short of what we need to purchase school supplies for the 650+ students that we are sponsoring.
